Inside the UK Parliament, there are private restaurants where only Members of Parliament and staff can invite guests. These places feel quiet, formal, and official. I had the chance to visit one of them once through a friend who works in Parliament, and the experience felt calm and exclusive.

For visitors who do not have access to Parliament, Westminster Kitchen offers a similar Westminster-style dining experience and is open to the public. The restaurant is located just a short walk from the Parliament area and close to Westminster Bridge, where many tourists come to enjoy views of the River Thames, Big Ben, and the London Eye. After a busy walk and sightseeing, the restaurant feels like a comfortable place to sit down and relax.

Inside, Westminster Kitchen has a warm and traditional look. Wooden wall designs, framed pictures, soft lighting, and table lamps give the space a classic British feel. The style feels slightly political and formal, matching the atmosphere of the Westminster area, but it is still welcoming and not intimidating.

The food is rich, filling, and well presented. One of the standout dishes is the lamb shank with creamy mashed potatoes. The lamb is soft, cooked well, and easy to break with a fork. The flavour is strong but balanced, without being too salty. The mashed potatoes are smooth and creamy, adding comfort to the dish. The gravy served with the lamb adds extra depth and brings everything together. It feels like a proper British main course, simple but premium, and very suitable for the surroundings.

The service is professional and polite. Staff members are attentive and respectful, creating a calm dining experience. The restaurant works well for a relaxed lunch, a business meeting, or an evening meal after sightseeing. Even when it is busy, the seating feels comfortable and the atmosphere remains relaxed.

Overall, Westminster Kitchen gives visitors a chance to enjoy a dining experience similar to the private restaurants around Parliament, but in a public and accessible way. It fits well with the historic and political character of the area and offers a good option for those looking for traditional British food in central London.
