Sir Geoffrey Bindman, the distinguished lawyer and pioneer of human rights law, has died at the age of 92. He passed away on 4 November 2025.

Sir Geoffrey co-founded Bindmans LLP in 1974 with a clear mission to protect the rights and reputations of local Londoners while representing progressive organisations and businesses. Under his leadership, the firm became known for its strong commitment to fairness, equality and access to justice.
Over a career spanning several decades, Sir Geoffrey was recognised as both an exceptional litigator and a leading architect of modern equality and human rights law in the United Kingdom.
Honours and Lasting Contributions
After stepping down from the partnership, Sir Geoffrey remained closely connected with the firm as a consultant. He continued to write and advise, offering insight and support to colleagues and the wider legal community.
His contributions were widely honoured. He was knighted in 2007 for services to human rights, appointed Honorary Queen’s Counsel (now King’s Counsel) in 2011, and in 2023 received a Lifetime Contribution Award in recognition of his enduring influence on the legal profession.
