Airbnb Partners with Women’s Aid Federation of England and MOPAC to Support Domestic Abuse Survivors

Airbnb has announced a new partnership with the Women’s Aid Federation of England and the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) to provide free, safe emergency accommodation for survivors of domestic abuse across London. The initiative aims to relieve pressure on specialist refuges, which remain in extremely high demand, particularly during the winter months.

According to Women’s Aid, domestic abuse affects 1 in 4 women, with many struggling to find secure places to stay when fleeing dangerous situations. Airbnb says the new collaboration will help ensure survivors and their families have immediate access to safe housing when they need it most.

Megan Wikeley, Public Policy Manager at Airbnb, highlighted the importance of the initiative, noting that a home represents “safety, dignity and a fresh start” for survivors. She emphasised that the partnership reflects months of planning and coordination, bringing together government and nonprofit partners to strengthen emergency accommodation options across the capital.

“This is about making sure survivors have somewhere safe and free to turn to,” Wikeley said, adding that the project represents the kind of meaningful impact that leaves a lasting impression on all involved.

The partnership marks Airbnb’s latest effort to support vulnerable communities through its platform, while advancing the wider push to improve access to refuge spaces at a time of rising demand.
